Questa mattina in una torrida giornata ed a poche ore dall ‘inizio del mese sacro del ramadan, laCorte d’assise del Cairo ha confermato la condanna a morte preliminare inflitta il mese scorso al deposto presidente egiziano, Mohamed Morsi, per l’evasione di massa del 2011. La sentenza, appellabile, è stata letta in tv. Milioni di egiziani erano incollati dinnanzi allo schermo per esultare dalla gioia alcuni e sprofondati nella rabbia altri. La corte d’assise del Cairo ha inoltre inflitto in primo grado l’ergastolo all’ex presidente nel processo per collaborazione con organizzazioni straniere detto “spionaggio per Hamas”. Si attende per oggi anche il verdetto sulla condanna a morte preliminare inflitta il mese scorso per partecipazione ad un’evasione di massa del 2011.Nello stesso processo su Hamas sono state confermate 16 condanne a morte di cui 13 in contumacia: alla sbarra sono il numero due e tre della Confraternita dei Fratelli musulmani, rispettivamente Khairat el Shater e Mohamed El Beltagui (il segretario generale del partito). In aula vari imputati hanno accolto la sentenza mostrando il “rabaa”, le quattro dita della mano simbolo della violenta repressione della protesta contro la deposizione di Morsi nel 2013

This morning on a hot day and a few hours from ‘beginning of the holy month of Ramadan, the high court in Cairo confirmed the conviction prior to death inflicted last month to ousted Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi, for the mass escape of 2011. The ruling, appealable, it was read on television. Millions of Egyptians were in front of the screen to exult with joy and some sunk in anger others. The Assize Court of Cairo has also inflicted at first instance a life sentence to the former president in the process for collaboration with foreign organizations said “spying for Hamas.” It also waits for the verdict today on the death sentence imposed last month prior to participation in a mass breakout of 2011. To the same process of Hamas were confirmed 16 death sentences including 13 in absentia the number two  of the Brotherhood of the Muslim Brotherhood, respectively Khairat el Shater and Mohamed El Beltagui (the secretary general of the party). Several defendants in the courtroom greeted the verdict showing “Rabaa ‘, the four fingers of the hand symbol of the violent repression of the protests against the deposition of Morsi in 2013
